Within the context of protocol signed by the Youth and Sports General Directorate and Housing and Development Administration (TOKİ), stadiums located in city centers that have outrun their economic lifespan and are insufficient for supporting sports activities will be torn down and new sports facilities will be built in their place.
Within this protocol framework, TOKİ, which has already allocated Galatasaray with the 52,000 spectator capacity Seyrantepe Sports Complex, has added to their agenda the construction of nine additional stadiums in eight different provinces, which will be able to accommodate a combined 211,000 spectators. When the projects are completed, TOKİ will have contributed to both Turkish football and athletics in general a total of ten stadiums accommodating 263,000 sports fans. Once the capacity is determined for the stadium planned to be renovated in Eskişehir, the total capacity of stadiums TOKİ will provide will be approaching 300,000.
SİVAS TO HOST 33,000 SPECTATORS TOKİ is currently engaged in the construction of the 15,000 spectator capacity Afyonkarahisar Sports Center, the tender of which was held last year. Also according to protocol, proposals for a 33,000 spectator capacity stadium and sports complex to be built in Sivas will be accepted on August 25th at 14:30. TOKİ will also be constructing a 33,000 capacity stadium in Gaziantep, three 25,000 spectator capacity stadiums in Mersin, Hatay and Malatya as well as a 15,000 spectator stadium and sports complex in Batman. TOKİ IS ALSO HEADED FOR TRABZON In addition to building a 40,000 spectator capacity stadium in Trabzon, TOKİ will also be constructing a 3,000 spectator capacity enclosed sports hall, two grass football fields, one natural and one with synthetic grass, six tennis courts and one 3,000 spectator capacity tennis court center, three natural surface football fields as well as a camp training center that will house a basketball, volleyball and tennis court in Trabzon.
