Turkish, U.S. officials meet under trade&investment framework agreement

Turkish and U.S. trade officials met earlier this week under a framework agreement that aims to boost commerce and business ties between the two countries, a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Economy said on Saturday.



 


ANKARA- Undersecretary with the Turkish Ministry of Economy Cemalettin Damlaci and Assistant United States Trade Representative for Europe and the Middle East Dan Mullaney chaired the respective delegations in the meetings in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

The meetings discussed bio-security law as well as the trade of genetically modified food, agreeing that talks over those two issues should continue.

Turkish side relayed to U.S. officials during the meeting Ankara's expectations and proposals over preferential market access for Turkish goods into the U.S., as well as over the removal of anti-dumping tariffs and compensating taxes on Turkish export products,which have been in place for almost 30 years.
