Yazici said that according to the figures of 2010, there were 64,600 Turkish entrepreneurs in Germany, and their investments in that country reached 7.4 billion euro.
Yazici noted that the number of companies which were established by German citizens in Turkey was 4,460, and their investments amounted four billion euro.
Noting that Turkey and Germany had high commercial relations, Yazici said that Germany ranked the second in Turkey's imports and the first in exports, while Turkey ranked the 15th in Germany's imports and 21st in exports. He added that there was a trade deficit between the two countries.
Yazici said that 1.9 million Turks were living in Germany, and 700,000 of them were German citizens, and 650,000 were born in Germany, adding that those people had a power to establish a communication between Turkey and Germany.
Yazici said regarding Turkey's EU membership talks with the EU that organizations such as Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry could support Turkey's bid to join the union.
Recalling that Germany cancelled the agreement to prevent double taxation between the two countries in the beginning of this year, Yazici said that talks were under way to sign a new agreement.
Meanwhile, Leoprechtin said that the chamber was influential especially in economic relations in Germany, adding that they were supporting Turkey's EU membership bid. He noted that they decided to transfer the chamber's headquarters to Berlin to contribute to Turkey's EU membership process and to be closer to politics. |
