Turkish national carrier launches flights to Sulaymaniyah

Turkey´s national air carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY), launched flights to Sulaymaniyah in Iraq.



 


SULAYMANIYAH- At a press conference held regarding THY's link to Sulaymaniyah, THY Marketing and Sales Department head M. Akif Konar said, "we are here to make THY, which is the best airline in Europe, the best one in the Middle East as well. Two weeks earlier we launched flights to Najaf and now we're opening our link to Sulaymaniyah. We earlier launched flights to Baghdad, Erbil, Basra and Najaf."

Konar said that they were working to be the best one in the world.

Sulaymaniyah Governor Behroz Salih said that THY's flights would contribute to the province and airport.

The new Istanbul–Sulaymaniyah link starting as of July 18 will be held four times weekly Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Sulaymaniyah-Istanbul flight will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Based in Istanbul, THY is one of the fastest growing airline companies in the world. A Star Alliance member carrying approximately 25 million passengers a year, THY posted 286 million Turkish lira net profit in 2010.

THY has been recently named the Best Airline in Europe by London-based research organization in air travel, Skytrax.
