MAPFRE GENEL SİGORTA

Antonio Huertas became the new chairman of MAPFRE Group in the general assembly meeting held in Madrid. The group’s 2012 target is 25 billion euros of turnover

MAPFRE Group’s ordinary general assembly meeting was held in Madrid on March 10, 2012. Antonio Huertas took over the MAPFRE chairmanship from Jose Manuel Martinez at the meeting and it was announced that the group’s net income was 963 million euros in 2011.

Deputy General Manager Sanem Çıngay Oğuz stated that despite the large variety of collaterals and low premiums, home insurances are not popular enough in Turkey. “With our renewed ERGO Our Home policy, people will not be worrying about leaving their homes,” Oğuz added.

“Güneş Sigorta, which announced 72 million 170 thousand  liras of technical profit with 292 percent increase and a net profit worth 22 million 226 thousand liras with a 170 percent increase in 2001, aims for balanced and sustainable growth.”

BNP Paribas Cardif CEO Cemal Kişmir:
The industry generates social benefit worth 38 trillion liras

Cemal Kişmir stated that the priority function of the industry is to buy risk and that the total value of insured assets has reached 38 trillion liras. “The fact that this asset could be replaced in the case of potential damage will create a very important social benefit,” Kişmir said.

Number of insurance policies exceeds 47 million

Policies generated in the insurance industry have increased by 37 percent in the past 5 years and exceeded 47 million. Nominal premium generation in the last 5 years has increased by 55 percent while the rise in traffic and automobile insurance premiums fell behind inflation.

ITALY TOPS THE LIST IN EUROPE IN AGENTS’ PREMIUM GENERATION WHILE TURKEY RANKS SECOND WITH 69 PERCENT, SLOVENIA COMES THIRD WITH 65 PERCENT AND PORTUGAL HAS FOURTH PLACE WITH 55 PERCENT. IN LIFE INSURANCE, AGENTS IN GERMANY HAVE A 53 PERCENT SHARE.

Government increases support; a new era in the Private Pension System (BES) is beginning

Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan has announced that the government has “completely changed” the Private Pension System (BES) in Turkey. The government aims to develop BES and Turkey’s dipping savings level by expanding the scope of tax incentives and will allow partial acquittal without fines.

The new Turkish Commerce Law (TTK) and the competition conditions of agents were discussed at the meeting organized by the Federation of Turkish Insurance Agents (TÜSAF) and Insurance Practitioners’ Association (STD)

The first two “Free Speech” meetings organized by TÜSAF and STD with the sponsorship of Aksigorta took place in Adana and Hatay. There was great participation in the events by agents from the region and the impact and opportunities of the new TTK for agents were discussed.

Deputy General Manager Alkan Süerdem stated that from January 2012 on they have incorporated business intelligence and reporting automation into the IPA’s technological infrastructure. “We have created added value for both our own processes and for our customers thanks to business intelligence,” Süerdem said.
