The loss caused by natural disasters comes with an expensive bill

LLOYDS ANNOUNCES FIRST LOSS SINCE HURRICANE KATRINA

London-based Lloyds, the world’s oldest insurance market, announced 823 million dollars of loss in 2011, its first after Hurricane Katrina hit the US. The company had announced 3.5 billion dollars of profits in 2010. Natural disasters all around the world had a huge cost for insurance companies. Natural disasters such as the tsunami and earthquake in Japan have reduced the investment revenue of the banks. “There is no doubt that 2011 was a tough year for the insurance business,” Lloyds CEO Richard Ward said at a press conference. “Therefore, the losses are not surprising, but this also shows what we are here for. We will help the people and enable the companies to restructure in the aftermath of a disaster. Also, despite this loss, we will keep our financial strength through strong supervision and professionalism. But there is one thing that disappoints me which is that insurance penetration has not been as high as expected in the aftermath of the natural disasters in 2011.”

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Why holiday makers need TRAVEL INSURANCE

THE SUN HAS BEGUN TO SHOW ITS FACE AND EVERYBODY IS THINKING WHAT THEY WILL DO FOR THEIR HOLIDAY. WHILE MAKING OUR HOLIDAY PLANS, DO WE ALSO THINK ABOUT THE RISKS WE MIGHT FACE DURING THOSE SHORT BUT JOYFUL DAYS DURING WHICH WE WILL BE UNWINDING? RIGHT AT THIS STAGE, INSURANCE COMPANIES MAKE SURE THE HOLIDAY MAKERS FOCUS SOLELY ON THOSE JOYFUL MOMENTS OF THEIR HOLIDAY BY OFFERING THEM TRAVEL INSURANCE.

PRIVATE PENSION SYSTEM (BES) FUND GROWTH

A new look at fund revenues

Even though the comparison in value of fund prices from the beginning and the end of the year represents the asset appreciation of those funds, in practice, it doesn’t matter much for the participating investors. This kind of appreciation only matters for the investors who put their money into the BES at the beginning of the year and who withdraw them at the end of the year.

PRIVATE PENSION SYSTEM (BES) to GROW further with government incentives

The government took the long anticipated step regarding the Private Pension System. The tax refund is being replaced with government contribution and non-taxpayers will also benefit from this system. Only the profit of the savings will be taxed in reimbursement. If more than 75 percent of a certain portfolio is equities, no withholding tax will be charged. After the implementation of the legislation, there will be a three-month transition period.

Insurance business to reach 60 billion lira volume will grow through AGENTS

The future of the insurance business was discussed during the “Distribution Channels in the Future of Insurance” panel organized by Insurer Daily. The participants emphasized that although alternative distribution channels will develop, the growth of the industry, which is expected to reach 60 billion liras in volume by 2023 will also make the agents grow.
