Turkish firms can invest in Albania´s tourism sector, says Albanian president
  14.10.2011

Albanian President Bamir Topi said Tuesday that Turkish firms could invest in Albania´s tourism sector.

Speaking at the Turkish-Albanian Business Council meeting organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), President Topi said that Turkish entrepreneurs could make investments in Albanian tourism similar to those made in southern province of Antalya.

"We also want to develop the energy sector in Albania. Albania is a small country with varying climate in different parts," President Topi said.

Turkey and Albania have strong economic, historic, political and cultural relations. Politicians have an obligation to support business circles, Topi said.

There are Turkish business circles in Albania. However, economic relations between Turkey and Albania have not reached the "bright" level that political relations have, Topi stressed.

Turkish businesses can also invest in the mining sector of Albania, Topi said.

Certain investors do not want to make an investment only in one country. Turkish entrepreneurs should look at the whole Balkans. The population of the Balkans is almost the same as Turkey's. Turkey has a strong economic potential. The Balkans have a good business climate for investments. Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia wait for new investments, Topi also said.
