"We have to take joint action against world's most pressing challenges such as international terrorism, global financial crisis, energy security, demand for fresh water and clashes between different cultures," Simsek told the 15th Eurasian Economy Summit in the Aegean province of Izmir.
Simsek said the biggest challenge before the world was to achieve economic recovery from the global financial crisis, adding that decades to come would witness "some major shifts in global power balances".
Simsek said the global crisis left countries with formidable debt issues, which he said would hit global growth and cause serious setback to job creation.
Simsek said Turkey was relatively lucky in creating new jobs, adding 3.4 million people had been employed.
"World needs to find jobs to 600 million people in the next ten years and with a weak growth rate that would be a major problem at a time when energy prices are constantly rising," Simsek said. |
