Turkish economy minister says Turkey gets ahead of China with its growth rate

Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said on Monday that Turkey got ahead of China with its growth rate.



 


 Earlier on Monday, Turkey's statistics authority said the country's economy grew 8.2 percent in the third quarter of this year. TurkStat said third quarter GDP stood at 31,029 billion Turkish liras on fixed prices.

Releasing a statement, Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said that Turkey's economy grew by 9.6 percent in the first nine months of 2011 while Chinese economy grew by 9.4 percent in the mentioned period, and therefore Turkey's economy was growing faster than China's.

Turkish economy grew beyond expectations, he said.

This growth rate also made a positive impact on employment rate and unemployment rate dropped to 9.2 percent from 11.4 percent in the third quarter of 2011 compared to the same period last year, he added.
