A team from the Doctors of the World left for Kenya on Sunday under a project supported by the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA).

The three-member team including ophthalmologists Ilker Yalcin and Inayet Andi will conduct cataract surgeries in the Sayyida Fatimah Hospital in Mombasa for the next two weeks.
The team is expected to operate on more than 100 Kenyan patients.

This is the second team of the Doctors of the World which is planning to send eight teams to Kenya in 2011 under the TIKA's "Health Support Project for Kenya".

Annual health spending per capita is about 37 USD in the East African country which has a population of nearly 40 million.
