Speaking to the Anatolia news agency, İnceosman mentioned that flights between İstanbul and Singapore are 80 percent full and that Turkey’s national carrier transported more than 80,000 passengers between the two cities in 2010. “The fact that 85 percent of the total passengers carried between Singapore and İstanbul were transit passengers makes İstanbul a very good transit location,” İnceosman said. “The number of flights to this city will increase to seven a week as of March of this year.” Currently, there are five THY flights per week to Singapore from İstanbul.
Separately, THY has been honored with the 2011 Airline Market Leadership award, given each year by leading monthly aviation magazine Air Transport World (ATW). The award was presented to THY General Manager Temel Kotil by the magazine’s Senior Editor & Europe Bureau Chief Cathy Buyck in Washington on Wednesday. |
