The number of broadband internet subscribers in Turkey rose more than fourfold in the third quarter of 2013 compared to 2008, Turkey's official information technology institute announced on Monday.
According to a report released by the Institute for Information and Communications Technologies, the number of broadband internet subscribers in Turkey increased to 33.7 million as of this year's third quarter, up from 6 million in 2008.
The report also revealed that the number of third generation mobile telecommunications technology (3G) subscribers in Turkey rose 17% in the third quarter of 2013 compared to a year earlier.
There are 68.9 million mobile subscribers in Turkey as of the third quarter of this year, showing a 2.6% annual increase.
In the fixed market, however, the number of subscribers in fixed telephone services decreased 2.8% in the third quarter of 2013 compared to a year earlier, from 14 million to 13.9 million. |
