Turkey´s grade rises in WHO´s report on struggle against smoking
  22.07.2011

Turkey´s grade increased in a report of World Health Organization (WHO) on struggle against smoking.

ANKARA- WHO's 2011 report on the global tobacco epidemic, which assess the measures WHO-member states implement in fight against smoking, evaluates the countries with MPOWER criteria.

MPOWER stands for "Monitor" tobacco use; "Protect" people from tobacco smoke; "Offer" help to quit tobacco use; "Warn" about the dangers of tobacco; "Enforce" bans on tobacco advertising promotion; "Raise" taxes on tobacco products.

Turkey takes place among countries which carry out successful policies in monitoring the use of tobacco and implementation of protective measures.

Turkey's good grade remains same in "protect" criteria, while it increased in "offer" criteria.

However, Turkey's grade is low in "warn" criteria as the warning labels about dangers of tobacco on cigarette packages were under the size set by WHO.
