Turkey´s fresh fruits & vegetables exports up 7 pct

Turkey´s fresh fruits and vegetables exports increased seven percent in 2011 when compared to 2010.



 


The exports of these goods increased from 2.1 billion USD in 2010 to 2.3 billion USD in 2011, Kemal Kacmaz, an official from Turkish Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Exporters' Association, told AA on Friday.

Kacmaz said that the amount of fresh fruits & vegetables production also rose 11 percent, adding that they exported 3.2 million tons last year.

Kacmaz said that Turkey exported fresh fruits & vegetables to 96 countries despite the global economic crisis and negative climate condition in 2011.

Turkey made the highest exports to Russia with 1.1 million tons of products in return for 839 million USD, added Kacmaz. He noted that Russia was followed by Iraq, Germany, Ukraine and Bulgaria.
