Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said on Friday that Turkey's boron production, which had been 436,000 tons in 2002, reached 1.6 million tons as of November, 2011.
He added that they targeted to produce 1.9 million tons of boron by the end of 2011. Yildiz said that Turkey, among 132 countries, was on the tenth rank in the aspect of mine diversity and reserves.
He noted that mine export of Turkey, which had been 700 million USD in 2002, increased to 3.6 billion USD in 2010, and 3.2 billion USD as of the end of October 2011.
Yildiz said that boron export of Turkey had been 186 million USD in 2002, and it rose to 629 million USD in 2010, and 855 million USD in 2011.
Turkey and the United States are the world's largest producers of boron. Turkey has almost 72 percent of the world's boron reserves. |
