Turkey paves way for natural gas import from Iraq

Turkey´s Energy Market Regulation Board (EPDK) Tuesday paved the way for private sector to import natural gas from Iraq.



 


An EPDK statement posted on the board's web-site said the board allowed private sector to get a license for natural gas import from Iraq for up to 30 years.

Accordingly, companies can import 0.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas per annum in 2014.

This amount will be 1.5 billion cubic meters in 2015, 2.5 billion cubic meters in 2016, 3 billion cubic meters between 2017 and 2031, 3.1 billion cubic meters in 2032, and 3.2 billion cubic meters in 2033.

Companies will have to apply to get a license until April 9.
