Turkey focuses on cooperation to make Istanbul a global financial center
  16.03.2012

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan has said that efforts were underway to develop cooperation with Hong Kong and Singapore in Turkey´s drive to make Istanbul a global financial center.

"My talks in Hong Kong and Singapore are of major importance in terms of our efforts to make Istanbul an international finance center," Babacan told reporters in Singapore.

Babacan said his talks also covered efforts to devise ways for cooperation between central banks and commercial banks as well.

"Both Hong Kong and Singapore are the entry gates to Asia in terms of trade and finance. A major portion of the global growth is coming from Asia now. And Istanbul is the entry gate to Turkey's region. Bring these gates closer to each other is in the interest of all sides," Babacan said.
