Turkey assumes position of chair of ministerial council of OECD in 2012
  18.11.2011

Turkey has assumed the position of chair of the ministerial council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for the year 2012.

In a written statement issued Monday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said that the last time Turkey chaired the ministerial council of the OECD was back in 1986.

Turkey's chairmanship will develop Turkey's ties with the OECD and will make it possible for Turkey to shape the OECD's agenda in 2012, the MFA noted.

The meeting of the ministerial council is being planned for May 22 thru 24, 2012 in the French capital of Paris.
