The number of tourists arrived Istanbul in the first 7 months of 2009 is reached 4,179,906; an increase of 2,4% compare to same period last year.
Number of tourists arriving Istanbul according to their nationalities are as follows: Germany: %15,2 (637,263), UK: 5,9% (245.041), France:%5.4 (224.704), USA:%4.8 (199.036), Italy:%4.7 (197.454), Russia 4,6% (190.976).
Director of Istanbul Culture and Tourism; Ass. Prof. Ahmet Emre Bilgili said, “Istanbul reached positive figures despite the global economical crisis. Main reason to that is the diversity of tourism in Istanbul, having no alternative and continuous confidence and stability. This is the common success of employees of the city and industry. The success of Istanbul will continue”.
