One-third of employed to be women
  11.11.2011

One out of every three employees will be a woman by 2015 if a goal set by Turkey’s Employment Organization (İŞKUR) is met, according to the body.

İŞKUR will implement projects that increase social awareness on gender equality and thus encourage women’s participation in the labor force, it said.

The targets and road map to ensure that 35 percent of workforce positions are held by females by 2015 was laid out in the organization’s Strategic Plan 2011-2015.

The body aims to increase Turkey’s employment in general and that of women in particular, for which it will implement projects that train the labor force, the organization said.

İŞKUR has also made a commitment to strengthening the related institutional structure for a more efficient labor market, officials said.

Among other key goals in the plan is to encourage private sector employment by an average annual rate of 25 percent. Employment fairs have also been set as another tool to increase employment. Some 150,000 people unemployed for longer than six months will also be assisted by İŞKUR in job searches, officials said.

Another goal is to increase training programs that guarantee a job afterward by 40 percent by 2015, according to İŞKUR’s five-year strategic plan.
