Number of credit cards increased 6.4 pct

The number of credit cards increased 6.4 percent, and one billion Turkish Liras of credit card spending was made daily by using credit cards in the first quarter of 2013.



 


The total number of credit cards in Turkey reached 55,744.399 thousand in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same term previous year.

The number of credit cards increased 6.4 percent when compared with the first quarter of 2012, added Interbank Card Center (BKM) on Wednesday.

One billion Turkish liras of credit card spending was made daily by using credit cards.

The total transaction amount also increased 21 percent compared to the previous term and reached 96 billion and 914 million Turkish liras in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the number of bank cards rose 10 percent to 93,787,942 in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same term previous year.

In 2012, the amount of shopping made by using credit cards was 332 billion TL, and by using bank cards was 16 billion TL.
