MILLI Re: The Potential of the insurance market attracted massive investments in this field
  06.05.2011

"It is worth noting that the Turkish market experienced an increase in the volume of gross written premiums, although it sustained losses last year. The interest of foreign investors in the Turkish insurance segment is reconfirmed as well", Sezi MERIC from MILLI Re stressed.

The Turkish market has experienced significant increases lately, both in the economic environment and on the insurance business. The massive investments on the insurance segment evidence the high potential of the insurance market, as most of the significant insurers on the European market are present in Turkey.

"The structure of the market complies with the South-Eastern European typology where the motor insurance segment has a significant share. There are, however, the premises for the development of a life insurance segment, although this is hardly developed nowadays. The existence of the pool of insurance against earthquakes was also a good starting point for household insurance and for the potential business for reinsurers", Sezi MERIC added.
