Caner Çimenbiçer, former Chairman of Türkiye İş Bankası, was appointed as the Chairman of Anadolu Sigorta in the ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Anadolu Bankası on March 29, 2011.



 


1. Caner Çimenbiçer appointed as the Chairman of Anadolu Sigorta
Caner Çimenbiçer, former Chairman of Türkiye İş Bankası, was appointed as the Chairman of Anadolu Sigorta in the ordinary General Assembly Meeting of Anadolu Bankası on March 29, 2011.

2. Anadolu Sigorta at the top in customer satisfaction
Anadolu Sigorta was the top company in term of customer satisfaction, according to the results of Turkey Customer Satisfaction Index conducted by Quality Association of Turkey (KalDer) and international research company KA.

3. “Pharmacy Insurance Policy” for 25,000 Pharmacies of Turkey
Anadolu Sigorta collected all insurable exposure in pharmacies under a single package and offered the special and extended “Pharmacy Package Insurance” to the service of the insured.

4. Allianz Distribution Channels and Sales Group Manager Okan Özdemir: “Allianz is by the side of its agents “from A to Z”

10. “Disaster in Japan affects insurance prices”
Ray Sigorta Chairman Karl Fink said that the disaster in Japan would sure affect the world insurance market as some of the corporate customers worldwide halted their production due to the supply cut of some parts from Japan.

11. Aviva Europe’s new CEO Mayer in Turkey
Aviva Sigorta hosted new Aviva Europe CEO Igal Mayer at its Headquarters Building on Friday, April 8th, 2011. Mayer had the chance of meeting the managers and employees of Aviva Sigorta and expressed his satisfaction with his visit and said more visits would come.

12. Aviva holds drawing competition for kids
During the receipt of a plaque given for her contribution to “From Street to School” Project and “My Friend” drawing competition, Aviva Sigorta Assistant General Manager Ayşe Bolcakan said, “We have seen that everything we do for street children touches the hearts of our employees, business partners and customers, and this pleases us enormously”.

13. Finansbank Retail Products Group Manager Enis Kurtoğlu:” Position of the insurance products within the banking products is getting stronger”
Enis Kurtoğlu said that there has been 60 percent growth in their revenues from all insurance products within 2010 compared with the previous year, adding that “According to our estimations, this growth rate would be about 50 percent in the next two years”.

14. Çetin Alanya: “Our target is to create a company with value
Dubai Group Sigorta is gradually leaving behind the tough sides of being a newly-founded company, adding that, “Typically, data bank starts to come into being after the first year of the foundation of the company at the earliest. 15. HDI Sigorta agents recharge their batteries in Cyprus and Cuba
HDI Sigorta had started an award-winning campaign in support of its agents following the launch of its new product, Hayat-i, in August 2010. HDI agents who have sold the stated number of Hayat-i during the period of August-December 2010 were entitled to have a Cyprus and Cuba holidays.

17. Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey (TSRŞB) Chairman Mustafa Su: “We should prevent wealth transfer from insurance industry”

New TSRŞB Chairman Mustafa Su said that the loss of insurance companies meant cheap policy for the consumers in short term which would have negative effects for the insured in the long term too. Su added that quoting prices by the insurance companies in view of each other’s prices meant wealth transfer from insurance industry, and this phenomenon should certainly be prevented.

18. TSRŞB’s new management discloses its targets
New members of the board of directors of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey (TSRŞB) came together with the media members in a press conference. They told past developments in insurance industry in 2010 and also revealed their targets for the new period.

19. Taşkıran bids farewell in a dinner with friends

Hulusi Taşkıran who previously announced that he would not run for this year’s elections for TSRŞB Chairmanship at the end of his term had a farewell dinner with his colleagues in the Board and the industry representatives on Tuesday, April 19.

20. Industry-university cooperation in training
Six reports on training prepared by six work groups under “Workshop for Insurance and Actuary Training in Turkey” participated by a high number of university representatives, insurers, agents and experts were presented to the participants for further discussion.

21. A misstatement prompts heavy fine
Drivers who prepared false documents were heavily fined when Işık Sigorta noticed the mistake in the official accident reports. Işık Sigorta General Manager Recep Koçak said unsubstantial requests of the other party should be denied during the preparation of the reports after the accident.

22. ING Emeklilik agents welcome spring in Cyprus
ING Emeklilik met with its agents at a meeting held at Kıbrıs Kaya Artemis Hotel between April 15 and 17 and shared its targets with them for “creating a stronger future”.

23. Package Law brings uncertainty
Insurance companies are declining to open file for loss following the introduction of the Package Law and are waiting for the new regulation to eliminate the existing uncertainties.

24. Treasury Undersecretariat General Directorate of Insurance: “New regulation will remove all uncertainties”
In reply to our question on weather the liability regarding the physical damages would be transferred to Social Security Institution, Treasury Undersecretariat officials said a detailed regulation would be prepared on this subject which would remove all uncertainties.

25. TSRŞB General Secretary Erhan Tunçay: Recourse should be opened via secondary regulations
Erhan Tunçay said that the law clearly stipulated that the liabilities regarding the traffic accidents that took place prior to the date of publication of the Law would be performed by the Social Security Institution. He also added it was also clear that “the complaint files would be resolved by the relevant court where they were first submitted”.

26. Cengiz Karataş, Ergo Assistant General Manager in Charge of Insurance Damage and Transportation: “We are sending those that come up with compensation request to Social Security Institution”
Cengiz Karataş, ERGO Assistant General Manager in Charge of Insurance Damage and Transportation, said that the regulations introduced by the Package Law stipulated that the insurance companies should – as of 25.02.2011 - not cover the claims from prior dates as well as new claims, and even reclaim those sums that have been paid up until such date from the Social Security Institution.

27. Dubai Group Sigorta Assistant General Manager Sedat Özatalay: Problems in the law may end up with filing of objections to Constitutional Court.

Dubai Group Sigorta General Manager Sedat Özatalay said that treatment costs would be covered by Social Security Institution from now on against payment of a certain sum of the policies to the Social Security Institution.

28. New appointment in Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik
Ayhan Sincek was appointed as Assistant General Manager in charge of Actuary, Reinsurance, Life Insurances, expiration Procedures, Health Undersecretary.

29. Tarsim insures TL 11 billion worth products in 5 years
Tarsim General Manager A. Bülent Bora said that frequency and strength of natural disasters was becoming increasingly bigger today, rendering it impossible to conduct an economical activity without insurance.

30. “Mutual distrust is the fundamental image problem of the industry”
Suna Kabadayı who conducts individual and corporate image consultancy said the insurance industry could correct the negative perception in the public opinion only through settling its image problem.

31. The industry wrote loss even in rail vehicles with “Zero” damage
Outstanding claims reserves in the insurance industry had very negative effects on some branches, mainly traffic. Even rail vehicles branch in which there was no damage in 2010 at all made loss.

32 Anadolu Sigorta General Manager Mustafa Su: “All corruptions are cracked down”
Mustafa Su said, “Misrepresentations are recorded and attempts to abuse the insurance companies via false damage claims are prevented to a great extent.”

33. Dubai Group Sigorta General Manager Çetin Alanya: “One can not always have the right prices based on the existing results”
“Number of comprehensive insurance policies was almost unchanged for years; it even diminished given the number of sold cars. In the case of compulsory traffic insurance, there are both companies setting aside strong reserves and companies dissolving such reserves. Those who set aside strong reserves are on the right way.”

34. Mapfre Genel Sigorta General Manager Serdar Gül: “this might be called the worst year of insurance business”
Serdar Gül said, “It is always daily and short term decisions and policies related with the growth or market share that the industry is solely involved with. The year 2010 has already been a stain in the history of the insurance industry. Given the return on equity, we can describe the last year as the year of shame for the industry more than a stain.”

35. Generali Sigorta General Manager Mine Ayhan: “Big players should not kick the small players to outside the system”

Mine Ayhan said, “High competition in the market has currently become “destructive” rather than a “sweet” competition. This unfortunately has turned into an instrument used by big companies for sweeping the small companies to outside the system.”

36. Işık Sigorta Assistant General Manager Muhsin Şen: “The fact that the industry does not create added value for its shareholders is disturbing”
Muhsin Şen said “It is highly disturbing to think that the insurance industry, which paid TL 6.9 billion for the insured, distributed TL 1.8 billion as commission to its distribution channels, and given TL 640 million to its employees, can not create any added value to its shareholders.”

37. TSEV provides training to bankers
Banks’ needs for insurance training became bigger as a result of the increasingly higher role of banks in production of insurance sales and high number of bank-subsidiary insurance companies in the industry. Driven by this need, Turkish Insurance Institute (TSEV) accelerated its training works designed for banks in 2011.  

38. People still prefer police rather than filling the onsite accident report

We have seen in our interviews at Sektör Kahvesi that Turkish people still preferred calling police to the site of the accident because parties generally fail to reach to an agreement between them and they don’t know how to prepare the report.

39. ‘Insurance Week’ starts
