Izmir getting ready to host EXPO 2020

The outdoor walls of Turkey´s Culture Office in Paris´s Champs Elysees center have been decorated with banners and posters promoting the candidacy of western province of Izmir for the EXPO 2020.



 


In a written statement released Tuesday, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism said that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had sent a letter to the Secretary General of EXPO Vicente Gonzales Loscertales on May 28 regarding Izmir's candidacy for the EXPO 2020.

Izmir's promotion began just as soon as the letter reached the EXPO Secretariat General.

Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism's campaign to promote Izmir's candidacy kicked off in Paris.

The walls surrounding Turkey's Culture Office in Paris have been covered with banners and posters promoting Izmir's EXPO 2020 candidacy.

The Champs Elysees center is visited by tourists from around the world daily.

EXPO 2010 was held in Shanghai, China and was visited by 73 million people.

EXPO 2015 will be held in Milan, Italy.
