Istanbul to host boron conference
  16.09.2011

The 17th International Boron Symposium will take place in Istanbul on Sept. 12-17.

The event will take place at the Polat Renaissance Hotel under the auspices of the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.

More than 400 experts and dignitaries from over 30 countries are expected to attend the event. The symposium is organized every three years. The last host was Japan.

The major industrial-scale uses of boron compounds include sodium perborate bleaches, as well as the borax component of fiberglass insulation. Boron polymers and ceramics play specialized roles as high-strength lightweight structural and refractory materials.

Turkey is one of the leading boron-rich countries in the world.
