Iskenderun Port a gate to Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa, transportation minister says

Turkish transportation minister said on Monday that Iskenderun Port was a gate to the Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa.



 


A ceremony was held to hand over the operating rights of Iskenderun Port to Limak Investment Corp. in Ankara.

An agreement on handing over operating rights of Iskenderun Port to Limak Investment Corp. for the next 36 years was signed by Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim and other officials.

Yildirim said that 250 million U.S. dollars of investment would be made to the port.

Limak Holding Executive Board Chairman Nihat Ozdemir said that Iskenderun Port was at an important transshipment point in trade with countries such as Iraq and Syria.
