Interest in Turkish property rising
  17.06.2011

Expatriate health insurance could be required by an increasingly large number of people as figures suggest more foreigners are buying property in Turkey.

Suleyman Albay, Oceanwide Properties managing director, told Overseas Property Professional that almost twice as many people have come to inspect properties in the country this year than last.

"In recent months the increase in the number of inspection trips, and those walking into our offices seeking properties and advice, has more than doubled," he explained.

Mr Albay added: "In 2010 prices for villas and apartments in Fethiye rose six per cent.

"And we have seen no dip in activity … from January to April 2011 prices have gone up already by nine per cent on last year."

He added that the fact that there is very little overbuild helps buyers to maintain value in their property.

This is in contrast to other countries that have gone for "massive urbanisation".
