Imports increased 41.1 percent in June 2011

Imports in Turkey increased 41.1 percent over the same period of last year and reached 21.586 million USD.



 


According to the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of Turkish Statistical Institute and Ministry of Customs and Trade, in June 2011 exports increased by 19.3 percent and reached to 11.3 million USD while imports increased by 41.7 percent and reached to 21.5 million USD compared with June 2010.

At the same month, foreign trade deficit reached from 5.6 million USD to 10.1 million USD.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted exports increased by 2.9 percent and imports decreased by 0.8 percent compared with previous month.

In June 2011 exports coverage imports was 52.8 percent while it was 62.6 percent in June 2010.

The main partner country for exports is Germany.

As compared with the same month of the previous year, exports to EU were 5.4 million USD increased by 31.6 percent. The proportion of the EU countries was 48.3 percent in 2011 while it was 43.8 percent in June 2010.

In June 2011, the main partner country for exports was Germany with 1.1 million USD and increased by 40.2 percent. For exports, Germany was followed by Italy (725 million USD), the United Kingdom (673 million USD), Iraq (667 million USD) and France (576 million USD).

For June 2011, the top country for Turkey's imports was Germany (2.1 million USD), records for imports range from China (1.9 million USD), Russia (1.8 million USD) and the USA (1.487 million USD).

Road vehicles are forefront in exports according to chapters.

For June 2011, "vehicle other than railway or tramway rolling stock, parts thereof" has by far the highest value exported at 1.3 million USD and then "boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances" (1.029 million USD), "iron and steel" (919 million USD), "knitted and crocheted goods and articles thereof" (788 million USD) and "electrical machinery and equipment" (669 million USD).
