İlker Avcı becomes head of Turkey’s investment agency

lker Avcı has been appointed as the new president of the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT).



 


In a statement released on Tuesday, ISPAT announced Avcı’s taking office at the helm of the agency on Jan. 3. Avcı, 40, graduated from the Ankara-based Bilkent University’s department of political science and public administration in 1994. He later continued his academic career as a researcher at the University of Leeds in the UK. He received his master’s degree in international relations at the İstanbul-based Marmara University in 1997.

He previously worked at Kurtsan İlaçları A.Ş., the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Universal Dış Ticaret A.Ş. and became general manager of Başak Sigorta, one of Turkey’s leading insurance companies. He left his post at Başak Sigorta A.Ş. and started working at another leading insurance company, Güneş Sigorta, until his appointment to ISPAT. During his career, Avcı also served as chairman or board member of various organizations, including the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), yesterday’s statement also said.
