Government, public workers union agree on wages

Turkish government and a union representing over 550 thousand public workers in the country have agreed under their negotiations on wage increase for the second half of 2011 and 2012.



 


Speaking in a joint press conference with Hak-Is Union Chairman Mahmut Arslan, Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Celik said the government pledged a salary rise of 4 percent plus 4 percent for the second half of 2011, and for 2012 a wage increase of 3 percent plus 3 percent.

Celik said the wages of public workers were also given an average 29 percent betterment rise up to 150 Turkish liras.
