Global Buyout Fund acquires majority shares in Turkish medical firm

Global Capital Management’s Global Buyout Fund has acquired 80 percent of Bıçakcılar Tıbbi Cihazlar A.Ş. and its group of companies, the firm has announced.



 


Bıçakcılar Tıbbi Cihazlar is the leading manufacturer of medical equipment and disposables and distributor of cardiovascular and neurosurgery products in Turkey.

The agreement for the acquisition was signed Wednesday by Ferhat Bıçakcı, representing the Bıçakcı family, and İhsan Sancay, a partner of Global Capital Management in Turkey, the alternative asset management arm of Global Investment House that represents the Global Buyout Fund, the statement said.

Bıçakcılar is the largest manufacturer of intravenous cannula in the Middle East and Eastern Europe and is the second largest manufacturer of catheters in Europe. The company exports its products to more than 80 countries.

Some 550 people are employed at the company’s plant in Esenyurt district, its headquarters in Istanbul, as well as sales branches in Ankara, İzmir, Samsun, Konya, Antalya and Adana provinces.
