France Minister Simsek Criticizes Moody“s
  01.02.2013

Finance Minister Mehmet Žimžek said that Turkey does not owe any money to the outside world.

“Today, the outside world owes 32 billion TL to the Republic of Turkey. That is to say the Turkish state does not owe any money to the outside world, the outside world owes us” he said.

Žimžek said that international credit rating agencies like Moody’s were not successful before, during and after the global crisis, Žimžek said : “We are an investment worthy country in terms of credit rating but Moody’s holds the view that we are not. Turkey has had $ 122 billion direct investment in the past decade. Even this indicates that this assessment is incomplete. We see that it does not reflect the stage reached by Turkey” he said.

“We even paid Ottoman’s debts in the past. We are such a country. Secondly, Turkey is currently one of Europe’s most powerful economies but its credit rating does not reflect this” he added.
