France Changes Attitude on Turkey´s EU Membership
  01.02.2013

The socialist government in France prepares to lift political blockages, which former French President Nicholas Sarkozy put before Turkey’s negotiation process with the European Union.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will be meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoğlu at an International Security Conference to be held in Germany on February 2, 2013.

Fabius is expected to give information on the new attitude of the Paris Administration during his meeting with Davutoğlu.

The socialist French government plans to take steps in order to lift the 17th chapter on political economy and the 22nd chapter regarding the regional policies.

Meanwhile, during their talks in Germany, the duo will also take up a planned visit of French President François Hollande to be paid to Turkey soon.

Hence, Turkey’s EU Minister Egemen Bağış will be in Paris on February 20 to hold contacts with his French counterpart Bernard Cazeneuve.
