The government’s aim is to provide every household with 1 GB of Internet access capacity as the number of Internet subscribers is expected to soar to between 55 million and 60 million people by 2023, Yıldırım said, according to Anatolia news agency.
Yıldırım made the comments Tuesday at a meeting at the Swissotel Grand Efes and added that more details of the plan would be revealed Friday.
“We could define the business world [in relation to] a ‘pre-Internet’ [period] and the ‘post-Internet’ [period]. Before the advent of the Internet, everyone felt comfortable,” Yıldırım said. “The Internet changed one thing. It eliminated certain population zones. It turned the market into a global one. Even the smallest manufacturer, or commercial enterprise, began focusing on customers located in some other part of the world. Communication highways and their infrastructure started growing in importance whether in commerce, manufacturing or travel.”
Turkey’s communication infrastructure grew stronger during his term in office, Yıldırım said, but added that this was not enough.
“The trade will be virtual, delivery will be real. Marketing will be conducted from a single source, and employment will rise,” Yıldırım said, praising the government’s plan to build an e-trade base in the city |
