Development Minister Yilmaz speaks at a World Bank meeting in Washington
  30.09.2011

Turkish Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz spoke at a meeting of the World Bank on the developments in the Arab world, political and economic transformation processes and the roles owned by peoples in Washington on Thursday.

In his speech, Yilmaz mainly referred to social and economic reforms made in Turkey in recent years.

The strong political will behind economic programs in Turkey gave good results. Accordingly, inflation in Turkey went down continuously for five years. While the inflation rate in Turkey was around 70 percent in 2001, this figure dropped to single digit numbers since then, Yilmaz said.

Yilmaz gave information on reforms made in the social security field and new legislation designed to increase productivity in public management at the Washington meeting.

Following the meeting at the World Bank, Yilmaz met with representatives of Assembly of Turkish American Associations at Turkevi.
