Releasing the consumer confidence index for August 2011, GFK said on Tuesday that the index, which was 96.2 points in July, decreased to 92.7 points in August.
Consumers considered terrorism, match-fixing allegations in football, and resignations of chief of general staff as well as commanders of forces as the most important agenda topics of August. The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results indicates an optimistic outlook when the index is above 100, but it gives a pessimistic outlook when it is below 100. The index refers to neither optimistic nor pessimistic outlook when it is equal to 100.
